Lash Extension Aftercare

To keep your lash extensions looking beautiful and lasting as long as possible, we recommend the following care guidelines:

Be gentle for the first 24 hours. Avoid touching, rubbing, water, steam, sweat, or any moisture near the eye area to allow the adhesive to fully cure.

Avoid direct water pressure on your lashes. When washing your face, splash gently and pat dry — never rub.

Stay away from oil-based products. Oils, including those found in some moisturizers and sunscreens, can weaken the adhesive bond and cause premature shedding.

Skip the mascara if possible. If necessary, use only water-based mascara on Classic sets, applying from the mid-length to the tips — never at the roots. Do not use mascara on Hybrid or Volume sets.

Use only water-based eye makeup removers. Avoid anything oil-based near the eyes.

Do not perm, curl, or apply heat to your extensions.

Sleep on your back when possible to prevent lashes from being pressed or bent during the night.

Never pull or tug on your lashes. If you’d like them removed, please visit us — we use a professional, lash-safe removal solution that protects your natural lashes.

Brush your lashes daily with a clean, dry spoolie to keep them neat, separated, and tangle-free.

Cleanse regularly with a gentle lash shampoo to remove makeup residue, oils, and environmental buildup. Keeping your lashes clean helps extend their wear and supports lash health.

Book touch-up appointments every 2 to 3 weeks to maintain fullness and shape.

Remove all eye makeup
Ensure the eye area is completely free of makeup. We recommend a gentle, oil-free cleanser. Please avoid oil-based removers, as they can interfere with the adhesive.

Avoid creams or sunscreen around the eyes
Many moisturizers and SPF products contain oils that can prevent proper bonding of the extensions, reducing their longevity.

Do not wear mascara
Mascara removal is time-consuming and often leaves residue that hinders extension application. For best results, arrive with clean, bare lashes.

Refrain from curling your lashes
Lash curlers can crimp natural lashes, making it difficult for extensions to bond correctly.

By following these simple steps, you’ll help ensure the best possible results — beautifully applied lashes that last.

What to Expect

Your lash extension appointment can take anywhere from 30 minutes for a refill to 90 minutes for a full set, depending on your desired look.

The procedure is completely safe and non-intrusive. Faux lashes are meticulously applied to each individual natural lash — never touching the skin. You’ll simply recline in one of our plush treatment beds and relax. Most clients listen to music, enjoy a podcast, or drift off for a restorative nap.

With proper care, your lash extensions can last 3 to 5 weeks, depending on your natural lash cycle. We recommend scheduling refills every 2 to 3 weeks to maintain a full, fresh look.

Aftercare & Maintenance

To extend the life of your lashes and keep them looking their best, follow these essential aftercare tips:

Avoid oil-based and waterproof mascara — both can weaken the adhesive and cause premature shedding.

Use only oil-free, water-based cleansers and makeup removers around the eyes.

Refrain from washing the eye area for 12 to 24 hours after your appointment to allow the adhesive to fully set.

Our curated selection of aftercare products is available in-studio, specifically chosen to support lash health and longevity.

While your lashes do require special care, overall maintenance is minimal — leaving you with effortlessly beautiful results, day after day.

Understanding the Lash Growth Cycle

Your upper eyelids hold approximately 90–150 lashes, while the lower have 70–80. Each lash grows to about 10mm in length and follows a natural cycle of growth, rest, and renewal.

There are three phases in the lash growth cycle:

Growth Phase (Anagen): Around 40% of upper lashes are actively growing at any time. This phase lasts 30–45 days.

Transitional Phase (Catagen): Growth stops and the follicle shrinks. Lasts 2–3 weeks.

Resting Phase (Telogen): Lashes remain before naturally shedding — this can last over 100 days.

Each lash is in a different stage, which is why it’s normal to shed a few lashes daily.

Do Lashes Grow Back?

Yes — lashes naturally regrow, but it can take several weeks to a few months, especially if the cycle is disrupted by pulling or damage. Premature removal doesn’t speed up growth, and pulling can lead to gaps during regrowth.

To maintain lash health, avoid tugging and consider nourishing serums to support natural growth.

How Long Do Extensions Last?

Lash extensions shed with your natural lashes, typically lasting up to 4 weeks. To keep them full and flawless, refills are recommended every 2 to 3 weeks.

Understanding the lash growth cycle helps manage expectations — shedding is completely normal and part of the natural process.

Refills from Other Salons

To ensure the highest standards of quality and consistency, The Lash Loft does not offer refills on work performed by other salons. Due to variations in products, techniques, and application, we require that all existing extensions be professionally removed prior to applying a new set.

Please note: Lash removal is a separate service and will incur an additional fee. If you are currently wearing extensions from another provider, we kindly ask that you contact the front desk in advance to ensure sufficient time is reserved for both removal and your new application.

With proper care, results can last 6 to 8 weeks, depending on your natural lash cycle. Since this treatment enhances your own lashes, maintenance is minimal once the initial 24-hour setting period has passed.

Avoid waterproof mascara and lash curling for at least 5 days before your appointment, as both can affect the integrity of your natural lashes.

Arrive with a clean, makeup-free eye area. On the day of your appointment, please refrain from wearing mascara, eyeliner, or eye shadow. We recommend using an oil-free makeup remover the night before to ensure no residue remains.

Wash your hair prior to your appointment, as your lashes must remain dry for a minimum of 24 hours following the treatment.

Lash Lift Aftercare

To preserve the shape, lift, and tint of your natural lashes, please follow these care guidelines:

Avoid moisture for the first 24 hours. Do not expose your lashes to water, steam, sweat, or humidity. This includes saunas, hot showers, and workouts.

Do not apply eye makeup (including mascara, eyeliner, or eyeshadow) during the first 24 hours.

Avoid touching or rubbing your eyes, and refrain from sleeping face-down to maintain the lifted shape.

Skip lash curlers completely. Your lashes are already beautifully lifted — additional curling isn’t needed and may weaken the effect.

Be gentle when cleansing. Use a mild, oil-free cleanser around the eyes and pat dry with care.

Brush lashes daily with a clean spoolie to maintain separation and shape.

Do not apply waterproof mascara, as it can weigh down and distort the lift over time.
